The weight of the soil

Lisbon, Portugal, 2026

A bomb cloud, an image usually measured in seconds, is formed in adobe, bringing air back to earth.

The installation transforms an ephemeral moment of destruction, giving it weight and returning it to the earth. Dust settles, hardens, and becomes landscape. What was once suspended in the air returns to the ground.

The work reflects on how violence lingers beyond the instant of impact. It remains in memory, in architecture, in the land, and in the soil itself. While many encounter these events only through a screen, the installation slows the image down, giving mass to what is often consumed and forgotten. It asks us to consider not only the violence of the explosion, but the enduring weight of what it leaves behind.
